Alexandria Corniche Expansion

As part of the national efforts to develop infrastructure and enhance the urban image of Alexandria, TESECO contributed to one of the largest coastal road projects: the Alexandria Corniche Expansion Project. The project aims to improve traffic flow, support tourism and recreational activities, and protect beaches from erosion.

🔹Project Scope

. Total Length: 4.4 km

. Route: From Montaza (East) to Al-Mahrousa Hotel (West)

. Targeted Beaches: Includes 14 major beaches, such as Miami and Sidi Bishr, where the sandy shorelines are to be restored after years of erosion.

Increase Traffic Capacity

Expanding the road to 5 lanes in each direction to reduce congestion.

Infrastructure Improvement

Construction of pedestrian tunnels, entry/exit gates, and public restrooms to serve citizens.

Tourism Enhancement

Developing the waterfront to create an attractive urban experience for residents and visitors.

Phase One

Location: From Montaza to Al-Borivage, Executed works included the expansion to 5 lanes in each direction, construction of sidewalks and interlock paving, and start of pilot road operation.

Phase Two (Ongoing)

Location: From Al-Borivage to Sidi Bishr, Executed works including the construction of "Mohamed Naguib" overpass and road expansion to 5 lanes in each direction, Expected Completion: June 2025.

🌊 Marine Protection Works

. Aimed at protecting beaches from marine erosion without reducing their usable area.

. Implementation of sea barriers at a depth of 15 meters offshore by the Shore Protection Authority.

. Execution Duration: 14 months.

. Expected Completion: June 2025.

. Reopening of Beaches after development works are completed, beach activities and public access will resume.

This project marks a qualitative leap in enhancing the coastal road network and revitalizing the touristic strip along the Corniche, while preserving the city's aesthetic identity and ensuring environmental sustainability.
