Al-Mursi Abu Al-Abbas Mosque Complex

As part of the ongoing efforts to revive historic squares and landmarks of religious and architectural significance, TESECO participated in preparing the designs and technical studies for the development of the Al-Mursi Abu Al-Abbas Mosque Complex — one of the most iconic religious and cultural symbols in Alexandria and across Egypt.


🔹Project Scope

. Total Development Area: Approximately 22,000 m²

. Redevelopment of open plazas covering 12,000 m²

. Rehabilitation of the old commercial building (4,000 m²)

. Renovation of the Abu Al-Abbas underground parking (6,000 m²)

. Construction of new service buildings and retail outlets to serve visitors and streamline circulation within the square.

Revive Al-Mursi Abu Al-Abbas Square as a religious, touristic, and architectural landmark with a special place in the hearts of Egyptians, especially Alexandrians.

Preserving site's visual identity.

Preserve the site's visual identity and upgrade it in a way that respects its architectural and historical character.

Achieve functional integration

Organizing and separating religious and commercial paths in a structured and safe manner.

Eliminating informal practices

Eliminate informal practices and unregulated activities surrounding the mosque.

Civil Defense Authority

Comply with Civil Defense Authority regulations by improving safety and security measures on-site.

This project represents a pivotal step in restoring the square’s symbolic, religious, and touristic value. It creates a well-organized, safe urban environment that honors the sanctity and significance of the site, encouraging more sustainable and respectful visits from both citizens and tourists.
